More than 1,500 arrested at Extinction Rebellion protest in The Hague

Activists blocked a section of a motorway during the afternoon in protest against Dutch fossil fuel subsidies. Police said they had used water cannon to disperse activists blocking a major road in the city, and arrested “a total of 1,579 people … 40 of whom will be prosecuted” on charges including vandalism. One of the activists bit a police officer during his arrest, police said. Several Dutch celebrities were among the protesters, including Carice van Houten, best known for her role as Melisandre in the hit TV series Game of Thrones.   UK Conservatives are only party to charge press delegates for accreditation at annual gathering Vanessa Thorpe  Arts and media correspondent It looks as if there will be empty seats in the rows usually reserved for members of the press at the annual  Conservative party conference  in Manchester this autumn, with media organisations across the political spectrum refusing to pay recently imposed fees. No other British political party charges for press accreditation, but last year a fee was introduced by the Conservative party. This summer the charge of £137 for each journalist’s application is being challenged by a broad coalition of newsrooms, on the basis that paying for media access sets a bad and undemocratic precedent. The new price tag on reporting the internal political debates of the ruling party has concerned a variety of industry bodies, including the News Media Association, Society of Editors, News Media Coalition and Foreign Press Association. WORK PROGRESS OF JAL JEEVAN SHAKTI INSPECTION AT ZUNHEBOTO

KOHIMA, May 28: Rahul Jain, IAS, Joint Secretary DIPAM, Ministry of Finances, Government of India visited Zunheboto from 24-26 May 2023. He was accompanied by Anenuo Pienyu, Scientist-C, CGWB Ministry of Jal Shakti. Their main purpose of the visit was to give inputs for the effective implementation of Jal Jeevan Shakti. On the first day i.e. 24th May the Joint Secretary had a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and all the departments associated with Jal Jeevan Shakti at DC's Conference Hall. A PowerPoint presentation was presented by the Nodal Officer and Executive Engineer Water Resource Department about the percentage of work is done, how much remains to be done, how much water is received from the spring water source and what are the plans for collecting water from the new sources in the next stage. KOHIMA, May 27 (NEJ):  The Launching Programme of the First 1000 Days under Health Mission was held at CMO Conference Hall Tuensang with Zerotso Kesiezie, EAC on 26th May 2023. Speaking on the occasion, Zerotso Kesiezie thanked the H&FW Department for organizing such events which would benefit the people. He stated that it was a very significant issue that should be addressed immediately for the well-being of pregnant women and children of two years of age. He added that the successful implementation of this programme requires all-round support from the Medical and Allied departments, churches, civil societies, and NGOs.
